Kandiyohi County Economic Development Director fired | News
(Willmar MN-) Kandiyohi County is again looking for an economic development director. After just 4 months on-the-job, the Kandiyohi County Economic Development Commission Friday fired Patrick O’Rourke. O’Rourke had just been hired in August to replace the retiring Aaron Backman, but according to The West Central Tribune, The Economic Development Commission reviewed O’Rourke’s performance after 90 days on the job, and afterward he vowed to improve communications with employees and address their concerns. The commission called a special meeting last Friday, during which O’Rourke was terminated.
No news release was issued, but the paper says Commission Joint Powers Board Chair Steve Gardner said after the meeting O’Rourke wasn’t a good fit. O’Rourke was hired on the recommendation of consulting firm David Drown and Associates, and the commission will be going back to the firm to search for another KCED Director. O’Rourke will receive 6 months severance pay.
